Patience in an Unlimited World

This week I started looking at cell phone plans to switch over to. A huge number of factors came in to play in the decision making process. I am a devoted Apple fan, and my iPhone is never more than 18 inches from me. At the same time, I am a recent college graduate and pinching those pennies is important.

I started on the hunt for the perfect plan. I own a video production company with two other guys, and we are always having to respond to emails, download scripts, or upload media from wherever our job take us, so data was an absolute must.

As I looked through all the plans, many included substantial amounts of data, but they would use two different incentives to get you to pay more. The first one was minutes (people still actually talk on their phones?) and the other one is data speeds. "Buy this plan and we will give you 100mb of fast data and unlimited slow data! But pay $30 more and we will give you 2Gb of fast data!"

And of course everyone doesn't want to wait for slow data. Imagine we might have to sit on our phones waiting for a YouTube video of a cat corpse turned into a remote helicopter scaring cows. (If you haven't seen the Caticopter YouTube video, stop reading and check it out!)

Unlimited and faster speeds started to swim as I tried to compare eight different carriers. But the thing that really matters is coverage right? If you can't get a signal, I really doesn't matter how fast your data is. His is such an fundamental principle that I never seem to remember in my own life.

Sometimes I get so extremely tired of waiting on God to work out His plan in my life, that I miss out on the joy that is today. I serve a God who is there supporting me every day, calling me to draw bearer and closer, and offering me joy beyond measure, and too often I am screaming "I want more and I want it now!"

Every day has its trials, but every day also has its joys. Instead of going for everything right now, let's take a second to rest and rejoice in His blessings and strength every day.
